J&J's family photoshoot at Campbell Valley National Park, BC
This Campbell Valley Park family photo shoot was a warm, candid session featuring a cozy picnic setup and a sweet one-year-old newspaper announcement to celebrate an important milestone. As a Vancouver and Langley family photographer, I focused on documenting natural moments, soft light, and the beautiful scenery that makes Campbell Valley Park one of the best locations for family photography in BC.
Picnic Setting + One-Year-Old Newspaper Announcement
If you’re dreaming of a warm, natural, and joy-filled family photoshoot in the Lower Mainland, Campbell Valley Regional Park in Langley, BC is one of the most beautiful places to make it happen. With its wide open fields, tall grasses, wooden fences, and pockets of soft golden light, it creates the perfect backdrop for candid, heartfelt family photos.
Recently, I photographed the sweetest family here — a relaxed, cozy session centered around a simple picnic setup and the cutest one-year-old newspaper announcement for their little one’s first birthday.
Why Campbell Valley Regional Park Is Perfect for Family Sessions
This park has everything I love in a location:
wide, open meadows that glow at golden hour
rustic wooden fences and heritage buildings for variety
easy walking trails (kid + stroller friendly!)
peaceful pockets that feel private and intimate
year-round beauty — summer golden fields, fall leaves, spring blossoms
It’s one of the most requested locations for families across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, and every time I shoot here, it delivers something magical.
The Picnic-Themed Setup
For this session, we created a soft, neutral-themed picnic scene using:
a light blanket and textured throw
simple props to keep the focus on the family
a basket with a few cozy touches
snacks to keep little hands busy
The picnic setup helped everyone relax and brought out playful, candid moments — especially with a little one who loved exploring everything around him!
The One-Year-Old Newspaper Announcement
One of my favourite details from this session was the custom newspaper announcement celebrating their baby’s first birthday. Not only is it adorable, but it also makes for:
meaningful milestone photos
a keepsake they can treasure forever
a fun prop that naturally encourages interaction (babies love holding paper!)
We photographed the newspaper in a few different ways — tiny hands holding it, candid moments while the parents read it with him, and close-up detail shots. These images add storytelling layers to the gallery and help mark this sweet season of their lives.
The Experience
What I loved most about this session was how relaxed and connected the family was. We let the little one lead the way — playing, exploring, and snuggling with mom and dad. Campbell Valley’s soft evening light wrapped everything in a dreamy glow, making every moment feel warm and timeless.
The result was a gallery filled with:
candid laughter
quiet moments between parents
playful shots of the little one exploring the picnic blanket
milestone images featuring the birthday announcement
wide scenic landscapes that show off the beauty of this BC park
