A Spring Wedding at Fraser River Lodge — Alyssa + Matt | Fraser Valley Wedding Photographer

Fraser River Lodge Wedding Photography | Agassiz, BC | Spring 2026

Some love stories find you before the wedding does. Alyssa and Matt first reached out two years ago for engagement photos, and from that first session I knew these two were something special. So when they asked me to photograph their wedding, it was one of those full-circle moments that remind me why I love this work so much. Being trusted with a once-in-a-lifetime day by a couple you already know and adore? That never gets old.

Their wedding day was at Fraser River Lodge in Agassiz, BC, and honestly the venue speaks for itself. Mountain views, gorgeous riverside light, and that warm golden hour that just makes everything look incredible. As a photographer it's one of my favourites in the Fraser Valley, full stop.

The Vision: Film-Inspired, Warm, and Wildly Romantic

Alyssa and Matt came to me with a clear aesthetic in mind. They wanted photos that felt warm and golden, candid and natural, rooted in real moments rather than posed perfection. Think film photography vibes, soft tones, the kind of images that look like they belong in a magazine but feel deeply, personally them.

That vision is genuinely my love language as a photographer. My whole approach is built around documentary-style wedding photography — I'm there to observe, to feel, and to capture the moments that are already happening. No forcing, no over-directing. Just light, connection, and authenticity.

Fraser River Lodge was the perfect backdrop for that vision. The golden hour light along the Fraser River is unreal. We planned the timeline carefully to make the most of that late afternoon glow, and Alyssa and Matt just trusted the process — which always leads to the most beautiful work.

The Day, In Moments

The morning was soft and unhurried. Alyssa got ready surrounded by her closest people, and the joy in that room was the kind you can feel through a lens. Matt, steady and emotional in the best way, held it together right up until he didn't — and that moment is one of my favourite frames from the entire day.

The ceremony was outside with those mountains right behind them, which honestly, you can't beat. Guests were seated under open skies and the whole thing felt so relaxed and real.

Golden hour was everything. We snuck away for portraits while the light was doing its thing and Alyssa and Matt were just so easy to photograph. They were laughing, leaning into each other, totally comfortable. The mountains and the river behind them with that warm evening light — the photos came out so good.

Why Fraser River Lodge is a Dream Venue for Photography

I've photographed at Fraser River Lodge more than once now, and every time it surprises me with something new. Here's why I genuinely recommend it to couples asking about Fraser Valley wedding venues:

Everything you need is in one place. Ceremony, cocktail hour, reception — it all flows from one beautiful space to the next without anyone loading into a shuttle or losing time in transit. As a photographer, that kind of cohesion means more time capturing real moments rather than managing logistics.

The mountain backdrop is genuinely unlike anything else in the Lower Mainland. That combination of the Fraser River, the valley, and the surrounding peaks gives you layered, dimensional backgrounds that look stunning in a warm, film-inspired editing style.

The staff are wonderful. They're flexible, communicative, and clearly invested in every couple's day. On Alyssa and Matt's wedding, they even brought out their alpacas for a quick shoot — which was an absolute highlight and gave the gallery the most unexpected, joyful little moment.

If you're searching for Fraser Valley wedding venues with incredible natural light and mountain views, Fraser River Lodge should absolutely be on your list.

A Note on Working with Couples Long-Term

Photographing Alyssa and Matt's wedding felt different because I already knew them. We'd already built that trust, that comfort, through their engagement session two years earlier. And that relationship shows in the photos — there's an ease in the way they move together in front of my camera, a naturalness that comes from not having to wonder whether they can trust me.

If you're considering booking engagement photos with your wedding photographer, this is your sign. It genuinely changes the experience on your wedding day. You already know how I work, I already know how you move, and we can spend your wedding day fully present instead of warming up.
